Our staff culture is built on foundation of mutual kindness and respect, where each member of our team is valued, supported, and empowered to do their best work. We believe in serving one another with the same level of care and concern we show our patients and strive to maintain a healthy, family-oriented approach in all that we do, behind the chair and behind the scenes.

Barrie Barber Choate, DDS, MSD

Pediatric Dentist

Dr. Barrie Barber Choate launched her own private practice in 2011 out of a desire to create a more personalized patient experience where both children and parents feel heard and cared for by a team of exceptional, empathetic staff. “My vision is to remain true to what I have always believed:  to treat all people the way I would want to be treated . . . the way I would want my own children to be treated.”

Dr. Choate’s pediatric dental experience runs as deep as her Texas roots, beginning in in the classroom at an early age. “Even as a young child, I was always interested in working with children and enjoyed sciences because I could work with my hands,” she remembers. “By the time I was in high school, my goal was to become a children’s dentist.” In pursuit of her dream, Dr. Choate earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery from Baylor College of Dentistry and 1984 and went on to complete her specialty training in pediatric dentistry at Baylor College of Dentistry and Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. She also holds her post-doctoral master’s degree in dentistry from Baylor University, where she spent several years giving back to the profession by teaching dental students.

Dr. Choate proudly hails from “Big D,” where she and her husband, Tom, have raised three children of their own. Together, they relish spending time with family, traveling, and being entertained by their cat and three French bulldogs.

“I am fortunate to be able to do what I wanted to do my entire life. Working with my patients and my staff each day is definitely the most rewarding part of my job. The children are my motivation and excitement; they are the future!”

Dental Hygienist

Amy joined our team in 2014 and brings over 15 years of pediatric dental experience to the table.  She earned her undergraduate degree in Community Health from Texas A&M University along with a B.S. in Dental Hygiene from Baylor College of Dentistry. After working in the field in a variety of dental settings, Amy decided to make our practice her home. “The small community feel of our office is a blessing to me and I feel it resonates with our patients,” she explains. “I love seeing our little patients all the way to our teenagers! They hold a special place in my heart.”

When she’s not behind the chair serving our patients, Amy stays busy with her husband and three boys camping, traveling, and cheering on the sidelines at sporting events. One of Amy’s favorite quotes comes from Winston Churchill: “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”

Melissa, RDH, BS

Dental Hygienist

Melissa has been a part of our team since March 2016. She originally earned her undergraduate degree from Texas Tech University with a B.S. in Marketing and took a job in corporate Marketing.  Shortly into her new career in the corporate world she recognized her passion was to help others.  Recognizing her passion, she decided to return to school and is a proud graduate from Texas A &M University Baylor College of Dentistry where she earned her B.S. in Dental Hygiene. “I always knew I wanted to work in the pediatric field as I am a kid at heart and enjoy working with kids. I love seeing the smiles on each child that walks in and out of our office as it brings a smile to my face.  I definitely call this my second home. “

Melissa enjoys spending time with her fiancé and their two dogs, Lily and Bandit. She also enjoys traveling, hanging with friends and most importantly shopping. She truly enjoys working with children and making them feel comfortable during their treatment at our office.  Melissa’s favorite quote since she was a child has inspired her throughout her life: "For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." - Jeremiah 29:11

Imelda, RDA

Dental Assistant

Imelda has served in the field of pediatric dentistry for over 13 years. She is a registered dental assistant and holds several other specialized certifications that make her incredibly valuable to our team. Quick to recall every child’s name and dental background, she is known for the extra care she takes to know and understand her patients. “I love working with children during their time at Dr. Choate’s office. We make their visits here easy, happy, and fun!”

Imelda is an exercise enthusiast and enjoys cycling, running, and weight training. Her greatest joy, however, comes from spending time with her two children and volunteering at her church. Imelda’s favorite quote by Eric Thomas best sums up her approach to life and work: “No alarm clock needed. My passion wakes me.”

Alvina, RDA

Dental Assistant

Alvina began her career in pediatric dentistry in 2013 and we’re thrilled to have her as a part of our practice. As a registered dental assistant, she diligently provides our patients with expert care and is friendly, approachable, and always ready to laugh.

Alvina’s heart for connecting with others carries over into all other areas of her life. She devotes her time to investing in friends, family and regularly volunteers as a Bible teacher. Never missing an opportunity to break into a smile herself, Alvina’s favorite quote perfectly encapsulates her positive attitude and perspective: “Wrinkles should merely indicate where smiles have been.” –Mark Twain

Office Coordinator

Irene joined our team in 2010 and has been an invaluable part of our patient experience from the beginning. She has been working in the dental field since 2006 and believes that the “fun, kind, and friendly staff” is what keeps patients coming back. “I get to be the first point of contact with our patients and usually the last,” Irene explains.  She is calm, reassuring, and knowledgeable, eager to assist patients and parents with any special needs or requests.

Irene is a Dallas native but a traveler and a foodie at heart, exploring new places and cuisine every chance she can get. She also enjoys running and working out in her spare time. She lives her life by the mantra, “there is more happiness in giving than in receiving.”
